Today was such an amazing day. After work we went out our first excursion. We went to the town of Sorilo, about 30-40 minutes from Porto Sant'Elpidio. It was so insanely beautiful that all I could keep saying was WOW. The town is up on this mountain of sorts and from there you can practically see to Croatia. Of course it was sunny and hot so we hiked down this fairly long trail to the beach. The beach is more small pebbles then actual sand since it is just pieces of the mountain that are falling off, but they are all fairly smooth from the water. The water felt so good to get into and cool off. Afterwards we went to a little section of the county/state of Mondevio, I think not sure of spelling right now. In Italy they don't really have states like we do but they are divided up into regions and this region was one of the first, ever and the winery that we went to is on of the oldest, still running wineries in all of Italy, 1750. Yes that is correct, 26 years older then our entire county. They have about 4 levels of quality of wine and this place had all the lower ones and the highest level in Italy. It takes about two years to make and sit in the barrels and then another two years to sit in the bottles. Just now they are selling wine they made in 2008. The view was also quit insane there and we had a really good flight of their white, rose, sparkling rose, and red wine. Along with some fresh salami and other meats and cheese we had a great evening. It made me think of my Mom and Dad. They would of flipped out of they could have seen it. Terri and Hal you will flip out when you see it. Can't talk long today but wanted to drop a note about the great special day I had yesterday and share some pics. Miss you all and there are rumors of the temperature going down to the 80's next week and I am very excited for that.
Ciao
The view from Sorilo on top of the mountain
More of the Adriatic Sea
They have Regatta boat races from here to Croatia
HAHAHAHAHA, look where I am
Down by the beach, BOY!
They have fields of sunflowers for oil and so people like Ehren can buy me 5 gallon buckets of seeds
The view from the winery. They make their wine with all their own grapes on a 350 acre piece of land
I wanted to do keg stands with this but though that inappropriate
Drinking wine, eatin' cheese, drinking wine, eatin'. Who eats the cheese, I eat the cheese
That building way out there is a jail. It really chaps Italians hides to know criminals live somewhere so beautiful.
