Something new in Munich

Well I wasn't sure that I was going to be blogging much about Munich since I was here just last December and many of you have already seen the pictures that I took then.  It was such a beautiful day here though I thought I would take the opportunity to walk around and make my way towards the other side of town where they have a park that I didn't explore last time.  What a great decision that was.  Not only did it allow me to do something new, and inexpensive, but this was an amazing park!  Portlanders would be proud to have a park like this.  First it is REALLY big, several square miles, maybe as big as Forrest Park at home.  I walked around it for at least two hours and never went to the same area twice.  They have a creek/river that runs through out and varies in size and speed from small trickle to pretty fast current and even waves for surfers.  Yes, Surfers.  Today was a national holiday here so there were many, many people at the park, walking around, laying out, swimming.  I dipped my feet in for a bit, and it was pretty cold.  Felt good but I don't know about getting my whole body in.  They even have a chinese tower in one part that had a old fashion German polka band playing music for all the people enjoying some food and drink.  A really fantastic afternoon.

Well enjoy the pictures and there are a couple of funny things from my last couple of days in Prague that I am sure will register quite a response from several of you.  Enjoy the sunshine and talk to everyone from Frankfurt.

Ciao

The Jewish Cemetery in Prague.  A heavy feeling is impossible to avoid after seeing this.

There were lots of other things to see in the Jewish part of town, but most asked for no photos.

So many Jews from Prague and the Czech Republic were eradicated during WW2.

On a lighter note, the view from Petrinske Park.  It took quite a hike to get here but it was worth it.

The bee I saved after he landed in my beer.  I let him dry off and then he flew away.  I thought he might need a designated flyer.

A kids castle and maze of mirrors also in the park, near the top.

Petrinske's Tower.  It looks like a mini Eiffel Tower.

You can climb to the top of the tower and this is the view.

360 degrees all around.  I think I saw Moscow we were up so high.

Can't go up without looking down.

Quite a last day in Prague.

The perfect lunch after hiking all over a huge park, mega sausage, slice of bread and a cold beer.

Look close and you can see the design cut into this building.  It is hard but its there.

After all the walking that day and before, I got a Thai massage for my feet and legs that included some little fish to eat all the dead skin of my feet.  Surprisingly none of them died when my feet hit the water. A very ticklish feeling.

My last meal in Prague that also included a wedge of Au Gratin Potatoes.  I amazed a table of four English people next to me.

The jazz club that I went to after dinner and once earlier in the week.  So good!

A state building in Munich on the way to the park.

German duck!

The surfers I spoke of, still in the park.

The wave is just perfect enough for them to glide back and fourth and do a couple of tricks.

There were lots of people watching and several people surfing.

Just part of the park, but an idea of how big it really was.

The Chinese tower in the park.  There were lots of people around enjoying the holiday and having some lunch.

Only in Germany does a half liter of beer only cost ,20 more cents the a half liter of water.

The Polka band playing "Don't cry for me Argentina".  That Madona has nothing on these guys.
